We slept in again until 9am PST, after we got everybody up we met a nice staffer who gave us several good ideas of things to do. So we prepared ourselves for the day and started walking towards town. We thought we could all ride the Lime E-scooters but they were too tall for the girls, so Uber here we come. We got an Uber to Camp Richardson. Camp Richardson is a famous camp area in Tahoe with a marina, stores, beach, restaurants, and campgrounds. When we got down there there were kayaks for rent and the water didn’t seem busy so we decided to get on Lake Tahoe and experience it! Let’s say Julie really got to experience the lake because her seat was very wet. We regretted not planning for this water trip as Julie’s butt got very wet. Caroline and Julie named the Kayaks (Desi and Ellie – The Yellow Banana; Julie and Caroline – The banana berry. We spent about 45 min paddling around the inlet, beach area and enjoying the views of the water and mountain sides. We decided to come in and have lunch right on the water at the Beacon Bar and Grill. The lunch was fantastic despite the waiter spilling more water on Julie (she did get a free margarita out of it). After lunch I thought we would hike to Emerald bay except we went the wrong way and after 1.5 miles of going nowhere we got an Uber to catch the Gondola to the top of the Mountain.
The Heavenly Gondola ride to the top of the mountain was cool and the overlook across all of lake Tahoe was well worth it. We got some nice pictures, took a small hike, where Desi got to climb to a little summit before they closed down the trail. We took the gondola the rest of the way up but since everything was closed came back down. We caught a lyft back to the campground, made dinner, played at the playground, bean bag toss, and relaxed the night away. Not we made the girls bathe since we’ll be off grid for the next 3 nights in Yosemite.
Very nervous about no hookups for the next 3 nights as the last 2 no hook up nights have not been a lot of fun. But like everything else we will figure it out.
Tomorrow we’ll try to do a little more in Tahoe before heading 3 hours to Yosemite.
